Spotlight: Carmen Lomas Garza

Carmen Lomas Garza was born in Texas. Her parents were very involved in the Chicano Movement (the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement). Watching her mother paint when she was 8, along with her own involvement in the Chicano Movement prompted her to create artwork. She paints her life's memories, many of them addressing Mexican-American families and life.

You can learn more about Carmen Lomas Garza at her website. She also has a gallery & has published 2 books: In My Family/En Mi Familia, and a book on making papel picado (which is terrific!)
