Joan Brossa branched out to all of the arts: theatre, movie, visual, and musical. He was also a poet and a graphic designer! He really did it all. He wrote over 70 books in his lifetime, all of them in Catalan. He was from Spain and was the founder of Dau al Set, a post World War II art movement that had close connections with Surrealism and Dadaism. In some sense, you could even label him as an early conceptual artist, though most of his work played with words, similar to Duchamp. Though he is mostly remembered for his literature, poetry, and plays, he was an accomplished visual artist long before his death in 1998.
