Spotlight: Lorna Simpson

Lorna Simpson's photography deals with issues of race and identity. She was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1960. While studying photography, she realized that photographs are objective images and she began to toy with the idea of using concealed meaning in her images. From this, her work was born: photographs and text that force the viewer to question assumptions about the people in her work.
