Spotlight: Colette Calascione

Please be aware that some of the images contained in this post may be inappropriate for young children.

New Yorker Colette Calascione creates some amazing portrait paintings. Inspired by Surrealism and Victorian portraiture, Calascione merges the movements into beautiful, symbolic, and whimsical paintings. A tinge of fantasy is present in her works, paying homage to the Surrealist movement. Beautifully dressed women with elegant coiffeurs grab your attention as the subject. One thing, however, is certain: No classical painting was ever as cool as these.
